Women had been attempting in the past on the different ways to straighten their hair. This effort was especially tried when during that time flat ironed, straight hair was in style. In order to straighten their hair, what women did in the past was to lay their hair on an ironing board, iron their hair and behold, they have a flat hair.
In the case of the African American community, the women here would use pressing combs first, then follow it up with the use of a chemical straightening relaxers in order to make their hair straight. The methods actually works, but the downside is that certain groups of women like the Caucasians, would find the ingredients too harsh for their hair. In the case of Latina women, they have some challenges too with their hair, especially some of them have slightly frizzy hair, while some have curly hair that they would like to have it straighten permanently.
Thus in Brazil, a Latin country in South America, came up with a solution to have two versions on how to straighten those types of hairs, and one is the Brazilian blowout and the other the Brazilian keratin solution.
In the Brazilian blowout, the method would require an application of a chemical to the woman’s hair. After applying the chemical on the woman’s hair, she is then prepared to have the traditional blowout. There is one main issue though about this process, among other concerns, and this is because of the use of formaldehyde, where the woman has to wear a military grade mass to withstand the fumes as a result of the chemical applied on the hair. The situation is viewed as extremely dangerous, thereby a new manner of straightening was developed.
Thus a new process of Brazilian hair straightening came about called keratin straightening solution that solves the previous concern. This process entails an application of a keratin conditioner, and with the use of a very hot flat iron the hair is finished off, and the client is to avoid applying hair accessories nor wetting the hair for no less than 72 hours. With this procedure, the chemical is allowed to take hold of the hair, keeping the strands straight and shiny. However, there is a risk that followed in using the process because some companies found ways to make formulas using formaldehyde thereby making inferior versions of the product, so, women are advised to use only those brands that do not contain toxic chemicals.
It is therefore advisable that in chemical hair process, women are to have the application be done by a professional to avoid risks.
